The host, Woody, has been involved in the lifestyle for 29 years and has gained a wide range of experiences from living in Amsterdam, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. He offers a global perspective based on his extensive worldwide experiences. On FetLife, Woody goes by the screen name "Woodsman."
The staff of the KinkyCast includes Leigh, who brings a poly perspective and has over 26 years of experience in the lifestyle. She engages in conversations with friends she has known for many years, providing a soft touch to the discussions.
Touchy, as the name suggests, started as the critical listener of the podcast. She would pre-screen the episodes before they were published and eventually took over the editing process in July 2015. Editing the content became a full-time job for her, ensuring that the episodes are highly listenable.
Nurse Ratched, a working RN with decades of kinky experience, brings a perspective on safety and a woman's point of view to the show. In the near future, she will also be hosting shows with a different twist.
The KinkyCast also features correspondents from around the country and the world, adding flavor and perspective to the mix. Terik is responsible for outreach to find new areas to discuss, while Johnny Thrash in Canada provides a view from the great north. Both of them contribute greatly to the success of the show.
The KinkyCast was established in February 2014 in Nashville, Tennessee, and has experienced rapid growth in listenership through platforms such as KinkyCast.com, iTunes, SoundCloud, and various podcast distributors worldwide. The show synopsis is translated into several languages to cater to local foreign markets.
Episodes of the podcast are released weekly, but the producers plan episodes more than a month in advance. They often record segments at different times to be mixed in the future, creating a well-rounded episode.
The recording and editing studios for the KinkyCast are state-of-the-art, utilizing 100% digital mixing and editing. The team uses nine Apple Macs for recording, editing, planning, and providing art to keep the website up to date every week. Their servers are located in the Boston Data Center, ensuring a reliable connection to the internet. All audio is hosted by SoundCloud. The producers and hosts also travel to national and regional events with portable recording equipment to conduct interviews and cover local interests.
The KinkyCast values community input and responds to it through emails, and an anonymous option called the "Bashful" link on their website.
Introductions on the show are read aloud by Max and Cassie, computerized voice personalities who are gaining their own following and is being incorporated as a cast member.
In December 2015, the KinkyCast added an enhanced archive that visually displays all the show logos. In April 2016, they introduced a fully searchable database of over 500 shows to date.
At the end of each year, the KinkyCast produces a multi-voice discussion group, as requested by listeners. Feedback and topics are always welcome.
