A clarification from Lanie Brown regarding expiration dates on condoms and dental dams…
"I didn't say indefinitely. What I said was that the FDA makes the companies put expiration dates on those due to the flavoring. Most times that flavoring is so minimal that it's not a factor in how long a product can be used. A reasonable time period for those products is similar to condoms. I wouldn't recommend using a dental dam more than a year past the date on it. As for condoms the date is a best used by date. Condoms are so readily available that although you can use an expired condom you don't need to. I use mine for demonstration purposes. Expired condoms shouldn't be used beyond a year past the expiration date. The condom packaging gets compromised after that and this compromises the condom. I hope this clears up any confusion.”
